PUSKAPSI Law Review requires authors, reviewers, editors, and editorial board members to disclose any conflicts of interest that could affect the objectivity, independence, and integrity of the publication process.
Conflicts of interest can include financial, professional, academic, personal, institutional, or other relationships that could influence editorial judgment or decisions.
1. Authors
Authors must declare whether or not they have any conflicts of interest when submitting a manuscript. Conflicts of interest that must be disclosed include:
sources of research funding;
relationships with companies or organizations related to the research;
ownership of shares, patents, or intellectual property rights;
professional or academic relationships with related parties; and
personal or financial interests related to the research results.
If no conflict of interest exists, the author may state:
“The author declares no conflict of interest in the research and publication of this article.”
2. Reviewers
Reviewers must decline assignments if they have a conflict of interest with the authors or the research being reviewed. Reviewers should inform the editor if they:
have a personal, professional, or academic relationship with the authors;
have previously collaborated or are currently collaborating with the authors;
have a financial interest in the research findings;
have been involved in the research under review; or
have any other interests that might influence the objectivity of their assessment.
Reviewers are required to maintain the confidentiality of manuscripts and not use information from manuscripts for personal gain.
3. Editors
Editors should not review manuscripts if they have a conflict of interest with the authors or the content of the research.
If a conflict of interest arises, the manuscript will be transferred to another editor who does not have a conflict of interest.
Editorial decisions should be based on the scientific quality, originality, methodology, relevance, and contribution of the research, not on personal or institutional interests.
4. Funding Sources
Authors are required to state the sources of funding for the research. If no funding is available, this must be clearly stated in the manuscript.
5. Handling Conflicts of Interest
If a conflict of interest is not disclosed and is later discovered, the editor will evaluate the matter and take appropriate action. Actions may include requests for clarification, corrections to conflict of interest statements, or other editorial actions appropriate to the severity of the issue.
6. Transparency Principle
PUSKAPSI Law Review is committed to maintaining transparency, objectivity, independence, and integrity throughout the editorial and publication process. Disclosure of a conflict of interest does not automatically result in rejection of a manuscript, but will be taken into consideration in maintaining the integrity of the review and publication process.
